Objectives:   At the conclusion of this activity the participants should be able to:

  • Evaluate the clear need to improve access to mental health services. Waitlists for traditional care have become prohibitive (nationally and locally).
  • Recommend a novel, evidenced-based, and cost-effective care-delivery model which promotes psychiatrists working in collaboration with primary care clinicians and behavioral healthcare managers.
  • Understand the perspectives of non-psychiatry physicians as they consider treating emotional/behavioral disorders in children and adolescents.
  • Provide examples of specific accomplishments and challenges we've experienced
  • implementing the Collaborative Care Model (CoCM) in Illinois.
