AODA Assessment and Screening

This presentation will examine the screening and assessment process for alcohol and substance use disorders as well as explore the referral process and limitations of current substance use treatment practices.

Target Audience

The program is aimed at psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, nurses and other allied health professionals who deal with mental health issues and addiction medicine.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this session, learners should be able to:

  1. Describe current best practice principles of screening and assessment for AODA
  2. Identify barriers in your own practice of treating AODA patients and discuss solutions
  3. Identify specific patient scenarios in which advanced AODA assessment would be needed
