Homerun Therapies for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis

This presentation will provide comprehensive treatment recommendations for those with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). This will include management of common symptoms that those with ALS experience, as well as approved therapies to slow the progression of the disease. Medications for ALS currently undergoing phase 2 and phase 3 trials will also be evaluated and discussed for future implications of ALS management.

Learning Objectives

At the completion of this activity, the participant will be able to

  • Identify common signs and symptoms of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis
  • Recommend medications for symptom management in those with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis
  • Recall the disease-modifying medications approved for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis
  • Evaluate literature for efficacy of upcoming therapies for use in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis
