It’s Getting Hot in Here: Updates in the Treatment of Febrile Infants (0-60 Days Old)

This presentation includes a look at the differences between the recent American Academy of Pediatrics Guidelines for the management of febrile infants and the current AAH pathway for this patient population. It will evaluate literature to support the AAH pathway and apply this pathway to neonatal patient cases.

Learning Objectives

At the completion of this activity, the participant will be able to

  • Summarize how to evaluate laboratory findings (urinalysis, blood cultures, CSF analysis) and apply it to clinical diagnoses.
  • Compare the American Academy of Pediatrics Guidelines for the management of febrile infants 8-60 days old to the AAH Well-Appearing Febrile Neonate Pathway
  • Evaluate literature that supports the deviations from the national guidelines to the AAH Well-Appearing Febrile Neonate Pathway
  • Apply the AAH Well-Appearing Febrile Neonate Pathway to patient cases
