Heart failure is the progressive stage of most cardiac illness and the only cardiovascular disease rising in incidence, prevalence and mortality. The treatment for heart failure has changed dramatically and become more complex in the past 10 years. In this symposium, we will present up-to-date knowledge to help clinicians and allied health providers identify, evaluate and treat heart failure and related conditions. 

Target Audience

This course is intended for the following specialties: Cardiovascular Surgery, Cardiology, Internal Medicine, Hospital Medicine, Family Practice, mid-level providers, allied health professionals and subspecialty trainees. It will also be of interest to fellows, residents and allied health staff with an interest in heart failure. 

Learning Objectives

At the end of this session, learners should be able to:

  1. Encourage application of primary and secondary preventive measures to reduce the incidence, prevalence and the economic burden of heart failure
  2. Know the most current evidence-based diagnostic & therapeutic strategies in heart failure & pulmonary hypertension
  3. Highlight innovation in the field of advanced heart failure
  4. Understand prognosis and outcomes of various treatment strategies employed in managing heart failure.
