Orthopedic Surgery and Physical Therapy for Patients with Obesity

These online recording will identify and categorize patients with obesity, and capture of Hierarchical Condition Category diagnosis of morbid obesity in Medicare patients, apply appropriate evidence-based weight management approaches with the patient, and  learners will increase their referrals for intensive, multi component behavioral interventions for obesity management.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this session, learners should be able to:

  1. Define the role of the Physical Therapist in assisting patients with their weight management.
  2. Determine appropriate patient candidates for referral to Physical Therapy.
  3. Redefine the spectrum of services offered to patients with obesity by an Orthopedic specialist.
  4. Understand the misconceptions and fictional outcomes of BMI on orthopedic surgery outcomes.
