Trauma Informed Care and the Neurosequential Model
This presentation will introduce the Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics as an evidence-based framework for assessing and conceptualizing the effects of adverse childhood experience and traumas as well as sequencing interventions.
Target Audience
The program is aimed at psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, nurses and other allied health professionals who deal with mental health issues and addiction medicine.
Learning Objectives
At the end of this session, learners should be able to:
- Develop understanding and skills in recognizing and working with threat response, a principle symptom of trauma
- Describe the role of physiology in trauma and the use of physiological, bottoms-up interventions
- Explain the role of sequence and timing in the effects of trauma on development and the role of sequence treatment
