Use of Methadone in the Hospice Patient Recorded Session (opioid-related)

Methadone has several unique characteristics which make it a good drug for a select group of hospice patients. However, while methadone accounted for approximately 1% of all opioids prescribed for pain it accounted for approximately 23% of all prescription opioid deaths in 2014. Methadone continues to account for nearly one in four prescription opioid-related deaths. This presentation covers safe prescribing practices.
