Objectives: At the conclusion of this activity the participants should be able to:
- Review the benefits of perinatal physical therapy and guidelines for activity in the perinatal period.
- Understand the function of the pelvic floor as it relates to the pressure system of the abdominal canister.
- Identify symptoms of the perinatal period that can be addressed with physical therapy.
- Discuss recent literature supporting specific PT interventions for pregnant and postnatal individuals.
