Suicide Risk Assessment Recorded Session
This presentation will provide information regarding identification and treatment of suicide risk. The presentation will address tools for assisting patients in managing suicidal ideation. The presentation will also identify barriers to treating the patient with suicidal ideation and address the impact of the patient’s suicide on the clinician.

Target Audience
This course is intended for psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, nurses, and other allied health professionals who deal with mental health issues and addiction medicine.
Learning Objectives
At the end of this session, learners should be able to:
- Describe one evidence-based measure to assess risk of suicide in a patient
- List one tool the clinician can utilize to help the patient manage suicidal ideation
- Identify at least one evidence-based treatment approach for use with a patient with suicidal ideation
- Identify tools patients can use between sessions that the patient can use to manage suicidal thoughts
- Identify at least one barrier to identification and treatment of suicidal ideation
- Identity one impact to the clinician if a patient dies by suicide
- Describe one strategy that can assist the clinician should a patient die by suicide
