Anti-Racism and Anti-Hate Forum: An Open Discussion on Professional & Personal Experiences of Racism, Bias, Discrimination, and Hate in the Workplace
Through the Central Chicagoland PSA Anti-Racism Collaborative, we will launch three Anti-Racism Forums (each at Dreyer, GSAM, and IMMC, respectively, and AMG team members are included). We have asked team members to complete a pre-survey on professional and personal experiences of racism, bias, discrimination, and hate. Survey responses are anonymous.
This conference is being held virtually.
Target Audience
This activity is designed for all Advocate Aurora Health Team Members at the Central Chicagoland PSA sites (AMG, Dreyer, GSAM, IMMC, and LGH), including Team Members providing direct patient care and leadership.
Learning Objectives
At the end of this session, learners should be able to:
- Create a safe space for open dialogue about racism, bias, discrimination, and hate in the health care setting
- Discuss recent incidents of racism in the workplace and impact on emotions, feelings, and work environment
- Define what microaggressions are and discuss strategies to interrupt microaggressions in the health care setting with cultural humility
- Provide and co-create short-term and long-term anti-racism strategies
Desired learning outcome
Using a Likert scale, after participating in this event, learners will have an increased knowledge in defining what microaggressions are and discuss strategies to interrupt microaggressions in the health care setting with cultural humility.
