Fostering Professionalism in Academic Medicine
This course will define professionalism, why it is so important and the social basis of it, how does it relate to medical ethics, and how can we promote medical professionalism amongst learners and faculty.

Target Audience
This course is intended for all physicians and specifically for Pediatricians , fellows, residents, nurses, and medical students.
Learning Objectives
At the end of this session, learners should be able to:
- Recognize the role of professionalism in medical training and patient care
- Summarize the relationship between the core tenets of medical ethics to medical professionalism
- Review medical professionalism frameworks for training and evaluation
- Consider the impact of attending behaviors on trainee professional development
- Analyze the role of the learning environment in trainee professional development
- Develop strategies to mitigate common professionalism scenarios encountered in trainee and faculty
