This course discussed the prevalence of a disease and a less than ideal health system requires physicians to perform appropriate screening methods and to prescribe appropriate treatment.  The current focus is on treating diseases and not the underlying causes nor preventing these diseases from occurring. Many physicians are not taking the patient's diet into consideration when assessing and treating their patients' health conditions.

Target Audience

This course is intended for all physicians, Family Medicine, Geriatric Medicine, Internal Medicine, Residents, Medical Students, Nurse Practitioners, and Physician Assistants

At the end of this session, learners should be able to:

  1. Consider the role of diet when assessing patient’s health
  2. Plan to counsel patients on the benefits of a plant-based diet
