Aurora BayCare Current Concepts in Sports Medicine Symposium: In-Season Athlete -- Virtual Option

In-season athlete management poses unique challenges for physicians and rehabilitation teams. This one-day course will cover a variety of topics related to treating the “In-Season Athlete” including principles of load tolerance, management of sprains, strains and tendinopathies, and to sport following COVID-19 and heat illness. The course will also discuss the multidisciplinary approach to treating sport concussions as well as nutritional optimization athlete performance.

Target Audience

This course is intended for physicians primarily in orthopedics, physical therapists and assistants, athletic trainers, and personal trainers or strength and conditioning specialists that work with in-season athletes.

At the end of this session, learners should be able to:

The Aurora BayCare Sports Medicine Symposium will provide attendees with the opportunity to develop an understanding of:

  1. In-season management strategies associated with musculoskeletal injuries.
  2. Loading principles and modalities to maximize recovery for in-season athletes.
  3. Evidence-based recommendations for treatment of athletic concussions including visual therapy in a multimodal approach for recovery.
  4. Referral sources for medical management of heat illness and nutrition optimization.
