Transgender and Nonconforming Youth

This course is to highlight the appropriate diagnostic workup to aid the clinician in evaluating transgender and nonconforming youth.

Target Audience

This course is intended for all physicians and specifically for Pediatricians , fellows, residents, nurses, and medical students

Learning Objectives

At the end of this session, learners should be able to:

  1. Describe and apply transgender and nonconforming youth terminology
  2. Design a welcoming environment for the transgender and nonconforming youth patient population
  3. Describe the initial evaluation of an adolescent seeking transgender care, including medical and mental health care
  4. Describe feminizing and masculinizing hormone therapy protocols, including contraindications, initiation, and ongoing monitoring and management
