Ethics and Technology: Navigating Issues in Therapy and Behavioral Health

This seminar will equip behavioral health professionals to ethically and legally navigate technology related topics such as social media, distance therapy, practice management systems, websites, email and texting.

Target Audience

This course is intended for Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Social Workers, Nurses and other Allied Health Professionals who deal with mental health issues and addiction medicine.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this session, learners should be able to:

  1. Identify the five key evaluative perspectives for evaluating ethical dilemmas and other challenging professional situations 
  2. Describe the steps and process for using the Multiple Perspective Model
  3. Identify the key ethical aspects of technology topics including social media, distance counseling, practice management systems, websites, email and texting
  4. Discuss critical thinking strategies that aid in effectively navigating problematic ethical and professional issues and situations
  5. Apply the Multiple Perspective Model to technology-related clinical vignettes
