8th Annual Advanced Heart Failure Symposium 2020

November 6, 2020

There is a tremendous knowledge gap in the need for timely referral for patients who may benefit from therapies such as heart transplant or durable mechanical circulatory support. Upon completion of this course, attendees will be able to manage critically ill patients with heart failure that require invasive hemodynamic assessment and temporary mechanical circulatory support.

This conference is being held virtually.

Target Audience

This course is intended for all physicians including internal medicine physicians, cardiologists, cardiothoracic surgeons, invasive cardiologists and health care professionals involved in the care of cardiovascular patients.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this session, learners should be able to:

  1. Recognize signs and symptoms of Cardiac Amyloidosis and understand basic diagnostic workup
  2. Understand current advanced therapeutics options for patients with COVID-19 Infections
  3. Understand which patients constitute “advanced” heart failure and the key clinical characteristics associated with high clinical risk
  4. Know how to implement cornerstones of guideline-directed medical therapy for heart failure management
  5. Recognize cardiogenic shock in both patients with acute and chronic heart failure
  6. Understand the temporary mechanical circulatory support options available to patients with cardiogenic shock
  7. Know how to use invasive hemodynamics in the management of cardiogenic shock
  8. Know some of the key principles of starting a heart failure clinic
  9. Know some of the unique nuances of blood pressure management in the LVAD patient
  10. Understand the clinical options for atrial arrhythmia management in the patient with chronic heart failure
