This conference includes two sessions, Collaborative Strengths-Based Family Therapy with High-Risk Adolescents and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy and Telehealth. 

Collaborative Strengths-Based Family Therapy with High-Risk Adolescents
In this “hands-on” practice-oriented webinar, participants will learn a strengths-based, eco-systemic family therapy approach that integrates the best elements of Solution-Focused, MRI Brief Strategic, Narrative, Post-Modern Systemic Therapy, ideas from empirically-supported family therapy approaches, mindfulness practices, expressive writing, and art therapy methods. There will be a strong emphasis on the use of self and tailor-fitting what we do therapeutically with the preferences, theories of change, goals, presenting difficulties, and family characteristics of the clients.

Solution-Focused Brief Therapy and Telehealth (SFBT)
This session will provide participants with information that will increase their confidence in running SFBT sessions utilizing telehealth and telephonic health modalities.  Participants will also gain a broader understanding of the ethical concerns and implications of conducting telehealth sessions. The session will also cover how to structure SFBT sessions utilizing telehealth including collaborative documentation considerations, as well as billing and insurance considerations.

This conference is being held virtually.

Learning Objectives

Collaborative Strengths-Based Family Therapy with High-Risk Adolescents
At the end of this session, learners should be able to:

  1. Design the family therapy approach based on the unique preferences, theories of change, goals, presenting difficulties, and family characteristics of the clients
  2. Analyze client expertise, establishing well-formulated treatment goals, and cocreating compelling future realities to ensure family goal-maintenance and create relapse prevention strategies
  3. Apply effective engagement strategies with reluctant and tough adolescents
  4. Discover keys to establish strong cooperative partnerships with involved larger systems professionals and key resource people from families’ social networks


Solution-Focused Brief Therapy and Telehealth
At the end of this session, learners should be able to:

  1. Identify how to run Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) sessions utilizing telehealth and telephonic health modalities to increase self-confidence
  2. Examine how the telehealth session maps onto the SFBT model and the SFBT clinical note
  3. Recognize how to structure SFBT sessions utilizing telehealth, including collaborative documentation considerations, as well as billing and insurance considerations
  4. Describe the ethical concerns and implications of conducting sessions over telehealth
  5. Discover new tools and strategies for conducting telehealth effectively and safely, including ergonomic and technological considerations
