New AAH Systemwide Code Status Policy
This course will implement and utilize the new system wide Code Status Policy that will be rolled out as of January 1, 2022 throughout Advocate Aurora Health.
- To delineate the responsibilities of the health care team in making, documenting, communicating, and reviewing Code Status orders.
- To promote shared decision-making among physicians, nurses, other team members and the Patient, when decisional, or Substitute Decision-Maker(s) (PtWD/orSDM), to arrive at informed goals of care, and to guide entry of medical orders reflecting those goals.
- To ensure respect for each patient’s rights to make decisions relating to their own medical treatment, including the right to refuse potentially lifesaving measures in the event of cardiac arrest or pre-arrest emergency.

Target Audience
This course is intended for all members of the health care industry and Advance Practice Clinicians, Nurses, Case Managers, Social Workers, Chaplains and other Team Members who interact with patients about goals of care and code status considerations.
