Aurora BayCare Stroke and Neurovascular Symposium 2019

An educational session geared towards providers, nurse practitioners, physician assistants and registered nurses that provide care for patients diagnosed with stroke or other neurovascular conditions. At the end of the session, attendees will have increased knowledge of treatment pathways brain aneurysms, carotid artery disease, pre-hospital stroke triage, pseudobulbar affect disorder and the role of rehabilitation services in the acute phase of stroke care.

Target Audience

This course is intended for physicians and medical teams of the following specialties:

Critical Care (Intensivists), Emergency Medicine, Family Practice, General Practice, General Surgery, Internal Medicine, Interventional Radiology, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Vascular Surgery.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this session, learners should be able to:

  1. Examine updates on care pathways for patients with stroke, carotid disease or other neurovascular diagnosis.
  2. Identify symptoms of pseudobulbar affect disorder and its prevalence after a stroke.
  3. Discuss the affects of early consultation by rehabilitation services after an acute stroke.
