EBBHS: Clinical Risk Adjustment

Risk adjustment predicts or explains the future healthcare expenditure of individuals based on their diagnoses and demographics.  In turn, this predicts the resources that are required to care for these patients.

Target Audience

This course is intended for physicians, psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, nurses, and other allied health professionals who deal with mental health issues and addiction medicine.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this session, learners should be able to:

  1. Overview of Clinical Risk Adjustment model to accurately record the acuity of each patient and care provided
  2. Identify common criteria for common comorbid conditions that impact Behavioral Health
  3. Understand documentation best practices to appropriately capture chronic conditions and severity
  4. Examine applied criteria and how documentation impacts the patient’s clinical picture
  5. Review documentation tips, coding perils, and pearls, along with E.H.R. tools available
