Pediatric Orthopedics: Common Fractures and Sports Injuries (APP)

This course is for the APP Providers ONLY.

This course is aimed at PCPs (pediatricians), with the goal that they will have a greater understanding of the risks of orthopedic injury in children due to participation in sports. They will review the types of injuries, recommended treatment, and when to refer to orthopedic specialists.

At the end of this session, learners should be able to:

  1. Describe principles of fracture healing and remodeling
  2. List fracture description terminology
  3. Identify fractures commonly seen in an outpatient setting
  4. Describe guidelines for managing common fractures
  5. Identify common overuse and sports injuries
  6. Describe guidelines for treating common sports injuries
