Polyvagal Theory and Treatment of Trauma and Stress Related Diagnosis

Polyvagal Theory is a mind-body theory that integrates physiological and psychological responses to address nervous system dysregulation and responses consistent with Trauma and Stress-Related diagnoses. This presentation will provide a foundational overview of Polyvagal Theory and its application for treatment of Trauma and Stress-Related presentations.

Target Audience

This course is intended for psychotherapists, psychologists, physicians, and other interested health professions who treat patients and their families in mental health or addiction settings.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this session, learners should be able to:

  1. Define polyvagal theory and related concepts
  2. Build a framework for understanding the implications of polyvagal theory in clinical work and trauma and stress related diagnoses
  3. Practice an exercise based in polyvagal theory to promote nervous system regulation
