The purpose of this course is to provide high reliability, process improvement, and event reporting and investigation training for Advocate Health safety champions.

Target Audience

This course is intended for leaders, nurses, pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and other interested frontline care team members who wish to serve as department safety champions.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this session, learners should be able to:

  1. Define high reliability
  2. Apply the 5 principles of high reliability to your daily work
  3. Modify your department or unit huddle to be more focused on safety and efficient
  4. Demonstrate effective event reporting
  5. Describe the role of the safety champion
  6. Demonstrate the safety champion's triage of safety event reports
